Rising form the Northern slopes of the Annapurna Himal, the river passes through the arid Manang region before roaring its way into the lower foothills to join with the Trisuli River. This monster of a river is also tagged “the Raging River” in the local tongue and offers up what is considered as the best white water rafting and kayaking experience in the world.
Not only renowned for is raging rapids and fast flowing water, the Marsyandi is also a beauty when it comes to scenery, nature and culture, from every sweeping bend of the river you get tantalizing glimpses of the snow capped peaks back drooping terraced rice fields and tiny, tradional housed villages. The water runs a clear turquoise blue and is dotted with boulders that have been sculptured by nature herself. This is one serious rafting or kayaking trip that is not for the faint of heart, the Marsyandi is truly a river that demands respect from those who choose to run it.
RAFTING With one rapid flowing into another, massive undercut boulders, a strong current and some steep drops, this is a truly exhilarating river for rafting. The river dishes out a sever Adrenaline overload to any who dare to paddle it, and with an experienced crew this is certainly a choice river for serious rafter, or those who have previously had their taste for white water whetted on a tamer river. KAYAKING As a Kayaking river, the Marsyandi is a very Challenging but enjoyable river and in many renowned international Kayakers opinions, it is one of the best rivers in the world to Kayak, with its endless white water, splendid scenery, pleasant camps and gob-smacking views of the Himalayas. It’s certainly a kayaking river that you should take your time on and enjoy the huge potential for river play and the impressiveness of your surroundings.

RIVER ITINERARY DAY 01: An early morning departure from Kathmandu takes us on the 172 km to Nagdi where we will set up our river side camp for the night. Bring plenty of snacks and drinks for the long bus ride. In the evening we will get our first look at this river as we sleep on its bank under a star filled sky.
DAY 02-04: Three full days to experience this wild and wonderful river. After breakfast on the first day, we will break camp and set up the rafts at which point your guides will issue you with the standard rafting equipment, a paddle, a helmet and a life jacket. We then head to the river for our safety briefing. Listen carefully for instruction and how to act upon the guide’s commands, not falling out of the raft and having a good time. Of course we will also tell you what to do in the likely event of you falling out of the raft., the river winds its way along some of the Annapurna Trekking route and is thus well populated with villages. The first rapid we hit is called Instant Karma, but don’t be lulled by its name, it’s a nice warm up for the next rapid “Mamas Big Butt”. And so continue the mighty rapids as this rivers plunges, dips and swirls us along its steep path to our take out point. Nights are spent on grassy river banks, eating scrumptious food under the stars and chatting with the locals. Its an amazing river trip that you wont want to end.
DAY 05: After our last night on the river party, we pack up camp with thick heads and head for the bus ride back to Kathmandu where we can sooth aching limbs ( and heads) over a cold drink and some good yarns. All told, a splendid rafting trip.
