Without a doubt, Annapurna has to be one of the most popular trekking destinations in the world, here, in this magnificent Himalayan region, is a trek to suite the fitness level of anyone, and we can even arrange a pony trek for those not minded or unable to physically trek. The annapurna region is in the middle west of the Himalayan range and spreads its snow capped peaks along the lush valley which contains Pokhara and the emerald blue Few Tal which can be seen to reflect the mountains on a clear day.
Annapurna is a conservation area and with support from tourism and the government the Annapurna Conservation Project aspires to improve local living standards, protect the environment and develop a more "sensitive" form of tourism. One of its most important functions has been to develop and teach courses on environmental education in local schools. The Annapurna region covers a wide range of climatic and altitudinal zones, a trek here can cover heights from 900m to 5300 meters and affords you the chance to experience many different types of climatic plants and animals. The area covers some of the most ancient trade routes from Tibet, which means many of the trails are very well established. Religions you find in the area include Tibetan Mahayana Buddhism, Bon Po Buddhism and Hindu. The Himalayan giants that you will find in this area include Annapurna, Annapurna South, Annapurna III, Dhaulagiri and Fishtail. |
